An Example of How You Can Spend 3 Weeks in the Seychelles

NOTE: 3 Weeks Is Simply An Example; You Can Dedicate More or Less Time, Whatever Fits Your Schedule

On our 'Further Information' page you'll find links to many of these great visitor activities and more

DAY 1

Arrive in the Seychelles; explore your apartment; meet your property manager; exchange some money; buy some food; relax and recover from your trip

DAY 2

Check out Beau Vallon, the beach, and the village; relax on the sand; check out the shops; explore the paradise that will be your home for the next 3 weeks

DAY 3

Pack some food and supplies for the 2 hour hike to Anse Mazor, one of Seychelles' many walk-in only beaches, and one that even some of the locals have never seen!

DAY 4

Dig out 3 Rupees for the bus into Victoria to check out the boutiques, the Independence Monuments, the fish and fruit markets, the traditional bakeries, maybe an internet café, and have a look at the port and the cannery, home of the Seychelles' most important industry. Bring some € or US$ or £ with you as well in order to check out the Botanical Gardens, a national historic site first engineered by the French centuries ago, and which today only accepts foreign currencies (US$, €, £)

DAY 5

Pack up your snorkling gear and hop on the bus to one of the coasts. Remember to bring your sun screen & underwater camera with you for some spectacular shots of the tropical fish. See if you can capture a picture one of the elusive sea turtles! Which coast you go to depends on the time of year, where the trade winds are coming from

DAY 6

Pack for the weekend and hop on the one hour ferry ride (operated by Cat Coco, a fleet of catamarans and sailing boats) to Praslin, the second largest island of the inner islands. Stay at one of the many guest houses, hotels, or our featured property on Praslin, and explore this small island community unconcerned with outside hustle and bustle. Before you go, make sure the ask your property manager how to get ferry tickets and help with booking accomodation on Praslin

DAY 7

Hire a bike and spend the day cycling around this slow-paced island discovering beach after beach. Don't forget your snorkle gear, because the underwater scenary on Praslin is even more spectacular than on Mahé

DAY 8

Keep that snorkle gear with you as you pack a bag and catch another ferry to La Digue, the last of the three populated islands among the over 100 islands which make up the Seychelles. Once again, hire a bike to cycle around this island that's small enough to walk around in a day, and find beaches you'll swear you've seen in calendars! Spend the night in one of the quaint guest houses, or check out our properties on La Digue

DAY 9

Spend part of the day wandering in and out of the boutiques and shops on La Digue which offer wonderful local art and food, and get cozy with a giant tortoise at L'Union Estate in the South West of the islandPraslin! Finish off this exciting sojourn by mingling with some locals at one of the clubs, bars, or restaurants in Baie St. Anne, the village that is considered the capitol of Praslin

DAY 10

Wake up early to catch the first ferry back to Mahé, because if DAY 9 happens to be a Monday, then you'll likely be competing for seats with the locals who commute back to the main island for another work week. Head back to Beau Vallon on a bus or taxi to snooze off the ferry rides in the cool breeze of the apartment or in the warm sun of Beau Vallon Beach.

DAY 11

With the help of your property manager, hire a car for the week and begin your exploration of Mahé. Begin by driving to the northern-most point of the island. Not many tourists go here so you'll get to enjoy the mostly untouched Carana Beach, Anse Nord d'Est, and Sunset Beach and the unique culture and history of La Gouge Village situated on one of the Seychelles' highest mountains

DAY 12

Start out early down the western coast of Mahé toward the secluded village of Port Glaud to explore the ruins of the Seychelles' recent past: this was the training ground of the government's now defunct National Youth Service, a camp for boys and girls who had finished high school and wanted to train for service is the national army. Continue South toward Intendence Beach, site of the Banyan Tree Hotel & Resort. It's famous for being host to both Janet Jackson in Spring 2004 and the Miss World beauty pageant in 1996. The tide comes in quickly here, so if you feel like relaxing, keep an ear tuned to the waves! If you're more adventurous try out some SCUBA diving with DIVE RESORT SEYCHELLES, an independently run dive centre located at the Plantation Resort & Casino in Baie Lazare

DAY 13

Start out early once again, this time down the eastern coast of Mahé. The East coast offers some stunning scenery including spectacular deserted beaches, winding coastal roads, and prehistoric landscapes. Stop anywhere along the way for local cuisine, art, and preserved colonial-style houses. Never forget your snorkling gear either as any swiming spot offers an amazing underwater world waiting to be discovered!

DAY 14

Head down the eastern coast once again and park near Anse Fourbans. Pack your hiking shoes to explore the trails that snake around this southern-most point of Mahé including Cape Malheureux and the lighthouse

DAY 15

With a little more help from your property manager secure a spot with the Victoria-based SCUBA group which explores the Isle Aux Farquar ship wreck, located in some narrows about a 5 minute drive south of the capitol. Don't forget your underwater camera! Finish off this exciting day with a bit to eat at the Pirate's Arm, a local favourite for dinner dining on Rue Independance in the heart of downtown Victoria

DAY 16

After returning the car, gear down from the break-neck travel pace and simply relax on Beau Vallon Beach, practice your windserfing a little more at Coral Strand Hotel, and eat at Baobab Pizzeria, a staple in the local dining environment. If you forgot your shoes, no problem - the restaurant is built right on the beach sand flooring an all! Hunker down until 18:30 (6:30 PM) and you'll see one of the most spectacular sunsets the Seychelles have to offer. Follow this with live music and dancing by Sega performers, the traditional song and dance of the Seychellois, hosted by Coral Strand Hotel

DAY 17

After your much deserved day of rest, pack that hiking bag again because today you get to hike to the Seychelles' highest point, Mourne Seychelloise, a wapping 905 meters (2969 feet). Don't worry, you wont be starting from sea level and it's definately not straight up! The trail is only marked by coloured dots on trees and the occaisional historical plaque, so all your pictures will appear as though you trekked fearlessly through the wild forests of Africa! Along the way you'll find several 17th and 18th Century ruins, enough spectacular views to use up several rolls of film, and hopefully a view of the very illusive Payanke (pronounced 'pI-yong-'kay, from French paille en queue). This is a beautiful little snow white bird that has only a single staw-like feather for a tail, and mates only once and for life!

DAY 18

If you didn't visit Plantation Club the first time around, now is the time for it. Catch the public bus back down the south-eastern corner of Mahé to Baie Lazare for a few hours at the table. After all, what's an island vacation without a little gambling! Take an hour or two to explore this most visible and well preserved historical landmark of the Seychelles' colonial past. For information and reviews about other casinos in the Seychelles, visit The World Casino Directory online

DAY 19

It's time someone else did the driving! Reserve some seats with Helicopter Seychelles, one of the islands' gems in tourist travel, to explore some of the more inaccessible inner islands, FROM THE AIR! Trips cost about €110 per person. Helicopter Seychelles also offers Heli Golf which includes a scenic flight tour en route to your destination, a 2 and a half hour layover for a refreshing round on the green, and the return flight, a package for only €110 per person. Check out their website for video clips and more information about this amazing way to really capture the beauty of the Indian Ocean

DAY 20

Take this last opportunity to lounge in what has been your home for the past 3 weeks by packing a picnic lunch and drinks and lounging on Beau Vallon Beach for the day. Mingle with other tourists and share your experiences while living on this precious jewel of an island, play with more giant tortoises at Berjaya Hotel, and perfect your tan before heading back to the real world. Take this last opportunity to really relax and live the island life before facing all that stuff you have to fit back into your suitcase when you're packing tonight!

DAY 21

Wake up early for your transfer back to Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) to begin your journey back home
